AMAZING SEA DUCKS
SEA DUCKS ………they’re not your typical diving duck.
To put it bluntly, they’re SIMPLY MUCH MORE AMAZING!!
Ornately colored feathers… specialized bills… strong enough to handle harsh environments and frigid waters…and some dive to depths of greater than 175 feet.
Yes, SEA DUCKS are SIMPLY AMAZING!
And although these beautiful birds make up 42 percent of all North American waterfowl species, biologists are continually striving to learn more about them, to better manage their long-term sustainability. Research indicates that several sea duck species are exhibiting population declines for a variety of reasons not yet fully understood. Nonetheless, today two species – the Spectacled Eider and the Alaska Breeding population of the Stellar’s Eider – are listed as Threatened under the Federal Endangered Species Act (ESA).
